2018: Mother of the Year?

Happy Mother's Day, everyone! 

Five years ago today, I made this Mother's Day tribute featuring cartoon mothers we recognize:

Well, save for Frida from The Buzz on Maggie because hardly anyone ever watched that show, and not many paid mind to Robot and Monster thus not really recognizing Arpa Default. A majority agreed that Nicole Watterson from The Amazing World of Gumball is best cartoon mom. I mean, she may not be perfect, but she is a great mom, nevertheless. 

This year I decided to make a comeback featuring animated mothers we definitely recognize! I was originally going to add Nicole to the bunch, but realized that she already had her moment to shine. Let another awesome mom have that moment. 

Going through Tumblr, I've decided on the top four cartoon moms that deserve recognition on Mother's Day. 

I'm going to be honest, I've read plenty of stories featuring mothers who either don't know what the Hell they're doing or being absolute cunts to society. Cartoon universe-wise, there are some animated moms we can't stand either (like Lois Griffin from Family Guy, of course). 

Even more honest, when it came to choosing a recently animated Disney show mom, I was originally going to put in Moon Butterfly from Star Vs. the Forces of Evil. However, I decided against it because seeing the relationship between Moon and her daughter, not to mention how she and every queen after Eclipsa completely screwed over monster civilization and did nothing to fix it because they're all racist...I doubt she even knows what Mother's Day is.  

That's why I went for the "disappeared mom" from the Ducktales reboot Della Duck. Okay, we the fans are CONSTANTLY asking ourselves and Tumblr where she is and what exactly she has done. 

But if the Goddess of the Moon spoke so fondly of her as shown in the "Spear of Selene" episode, then I am certain Della is a great mom...regardless that it was Donald who has been playing the mother role for her sons. (Huh, maybe I should have put him up here instead...)

We obviously know who takes first place her (raise your hands in agreement, fans of OK KO Let's Be Heroes!). Della takes a very close second. 

Rita from The Loud House could have gotten that second place, but after seeing "Just My Luck" I question her as a mother to ALL her kids. I think I liked it better when she and her husband's faces were completely obscured like Cow and Chicken's parents. 

And...I don't think I need to say much about Beth. Apologies, Rick and Morty fans.
