The bluejay sat with Twilight, his hand never having left her shoulder. They just sat there on the bench in total silence. Mordecai assumed that the pony would like a moment to calm down a bit before he could try and see what was wrong.

Twilight, having stopped crying, gazed down at the grass, deep in thought, but on the other hand felt a bit soothed because her good friend Mordecai was with her. She had earlier told herself that she needed to be alone, be away from her friends for a while...but Mordecai...she couldn't push him away. He was here beside her right now, utterly concerned and willing to show as much sympathy as she was willing to accept.

Mordecai gazed at her once more, the look of concern still on his face. "Can you talk now?" He asked gently.

Twilight sniffed a bit before she finally turned to look at him. "Hi..." She said finally, trying to put up a strong smile despite her shattered interior.

Mordecai managed to smile back. "Hey." His hand left her shoulder as he continued sitting beside her. "So..." He rubbed the back of his hand. "Me and Rigby were just working and then we started slacking off...then I saw you walk by..." He gazed at her. "Seriously, Twilight, what happened? Did something bad happen back in Ponyville?"

Twilight slowly shook her head. "No, Ponyville is fine. It's just..." She looked back down at the grass. "Look, I know it's been kind of a while since any of us had spoken to you guys..."

"Oh, yeah..." The bluejay chuckled nervously. "Yeah, I know, it's been a while and I sure do miss Rocky's little girl charms and Heloise trying to kill Benson. Sorry, we've just been so caught up on our work lately...and things have been pretty hectic around here lately..."

Twilight managed to give a coy smile. "When is it never?"

"Good point," he laughed. Then his eyebrows furrowed in another concerned expression as he looked at her. "So...what's been going on while Rigby and I had been slaving and slacking?"

Twilight bit her lip. Mordecai and his friends here had no idea what had been going on the last few weeks...they don't know about the aliens among them...

As much as it hurt Twilight to not tell them, she knew in her heart that it wasn't a good chance to trust them with this sort of thing. Just not now...

"Brian and Rita adopted a child," she said as honestly as she could muster.

The bluejay's eyes widened. "Whoa, really? What's his name and where's he from?"

"His name's Zim," Twilight explained. Then she averted her eyes. "He's from, uh, Canada..."

"Wow, an adopted kid from Canada," Mordecai whistled, impressed. "Good for Brian and Rita. So what's Zim like?"

"Well, he's..." Twilight racked in her brain for simple words. "Very different...and he's...well..." She shrugged nervously. "If you meet him, please go easy on him. He has a skin condition and he was born without any ears or a nose..."

"Wow, poor kid..." Mordecai's eyes widened. "You don't have to tell me. You should tell Rigby."

"Oh, thanks for understanding," she blew with a sigh of relief. "Things didn't go too well when he met Brian's..." She grumbled. "...family."

"Ouch, man," he cringed. Then he looked at her closely. "That still doesn't explain why you seem so down..."

"Oh, that..." Twilight lowered her head, her bangs falling a bit over her eyes. "Well, we've made some new friends..." She said quietly. "Red and Purple are their names..."

"Sound like cool dudes," he nodded.

"They are," she sighed as she averted her eyes. "Especially Red..."

Mordecai caught on. "And I'm guessing he was a major hunk in those violet eyes of yours..."

"I wouldn't say hunk..." Twilight tried not to blush. "But, oh, my goodness, he's just so amazing..." She managed to smile. "He said I had a nice voice..."

"Well, yeah, you got an amazing voice," the bluejay said sincerely.

"Oh, thanks..." Twilight chuckled shyly. "Anyway, I offered him and Purple to stay at my house for a while. And as time went on and we got to know each other..." Her eyes fluttered closed. "I started falling for Red..."

Mordecai nodded and let her go on.

"For the past week I've been constantly trying to please him..." She went on. "I've been trying to show my full support, protecting him when I could..." Her lip quivered. "I even wore his favorite color..."

"Let me guess..." Mordecai said slowly. "Red."

"Now I can't even look at the color..." Twilight said, her voice sounding hoarse.

Mordecai slowly glanced at the black ribbon tied behind her hair. He gulped, remembering what the color represented.

"What happened?" He asked worriedly.

Twilight took a deep breath, her eyes closed. "Well, then we met two girls from Quahog, Lol and Winn. Red was taking a job at Lol's pet shop while Purple was a janitor in the school where Winn works at." She smiled as she recalled the memory. "I was just so happy that Red and Purple were making new friends, exploring new territory...The smile on Red's face really made my heart soar..." Then her smile faltered. "But..."

"But?" Mordecai asked gently.

"Well, there was a party last night..." Twilight began quietly. "I was going to tell him that I loved him..."

"Did you?" Mordecai asked, gazing at her.

Twilight slowly shook her head, her eyes tightening. "I never did..." She choked. "Because he told Lol he loved her."

His eyes widened. Then he bit his lip in total shock as he gazed at the pained pony with so much remorse. "Oh, man, Twi, I'm so sorry..."

"I was right there when he told her those words I wanted to tell him..." Twilight's voice was straining and her eyes were welling up with fresh tears. "I just hid when they kissed."

Mordecai jumped a bit when she sobbed and she leaned against the side of his chest.

"I am so ignorant!" She sobbed, her tears falling to his chest. "I can't believe I thought I'd actually find love! I'm such an idiot!"

Mordecai quickly patted her shoulder and let her cry on him. "Come on, Twi. You know you're not..."

"Yes I am!" She cried. "I've been acting like a fool all this time! And for what? To impress a guy who doesn't even realize my feelings for him!" She sobbed harder. "Maybe I don't deserve love!"

Mordecai slowly reached his hands to grasp her shoulders and lightly shook her. "Twi, look at me." He said gently.

Twilight sniffed a bit before her teary eyes finally looked at him. He held an expression that was both calm yet serious.

"Don't ever say that you don't deserve love," he told her gently yet firmly, "everyone deserves love. We just have to find it somehow." He smiled at her gently. "And dude, you're a pro. What, you're looking for love right in high and low places. You're smart, you'll find love faster than you expected. Just maybe not now..." He said quietly.

Twilight sniffed, taking in his words. His serious yet motivating voice...who couldn't listen to that? And what he was saying was making sense.

Mordecai continued on. "I know that it hurts that the person you're in love with loves someone else. I should know..." He said slowly, averting his eyes. He shook his head before gazing at her once again. "But what you've done for this Red guy, just being his friend and all...dude, that's love for him right there. Um, in the friendly kind of way..."

Twilight managed to smile as she chuckled quietly. The tears still poured down her face, but she was starting to feel a bit better right now...

"I know you're still hurting, Twi," he told her softly. "But I assure you, as long as I'm here and you being here, I'm going to try and help make you feel better."

Twilight choked a bit, touched by his sincere words. She had always liked Mordecai out of all the others here in this interesting place. To her, Mordecai seemed like the serious yet calm one of the bunch. The more mature one of him and Rigby. She truly admired his interests and beliefs, and she was honestly impressed by his efforts and such.

And he was such a wonderful and helpful friend...like right now.

At that moment, Twilight wished she could tell him the truth. But still, the time just wasn't right...

"Mordecai..." Twilight sniffed, her violet eyes gazing at him.

Before she could say anything else, a voice rang.

"Yo, Mordecai!"

The bluejay groaned before he released Twilight from his grasp and turned to see a short brown-furred raccoon walk over to them.

"Where have you been, man?" Rigby demanded. "Dude, we've slacked off enough! Benson's getting pretty more pissed than usual!" He caught sight of Twilight. "Oh, hey, Sparkle. Whoa..." He cringed as he saw her teary expression. "You look worse for wear..."

Twilight cleared her throat, trying to muster whatever was left of her dignified appearance. "Hello, Rigby..." She sniffed, trying to clear herself from all the crying.

"Dude, don't mess with her..." Mordecai whispered in warning to him out of her earshot. "She's at a bad time right now..."

"What does she have a pony period?" Rigby joked.

"Dude, knock it off!" Mordecai warned him through barred teeth. He glanced over at Twilight, whom had heard nothing. He glared at Rigby. "She's just going through a tough time right now so back off, okay?"

"Okay, geez!" Rigby scoffed. He looked over at Twilight. "Stay strong, lady."

Twilight raised an eyebrow at him. "Um, thanks?"

"Yeah, well played, Rigby..." Mordecai rolled his eyes. "Now could you please leave us be?"

Rigby scoffed before walking away in the other direction. "And I thought you were too focused on Margaret..." He muttered under his breath as he left.

"Jerk," Mordecai huffed.

"No, he seemed really considerate," Twilight insisted.

"Yeah, that's Rigby for you," Mordecai chuckled. "So, you came here for a visit?"

"Actually..." She chuckled sadly. "I kind of left Ponyville. I kind of want to be away for a while...on account of...well, you-know-who may return to my house...and you know..." She shuffled a hoof nervously.

"Hey, I get it," he told her gently, placing a hand on her shoulder. "In fact, if you're going to stay here longer, I'd be happy to offer you some space in our room."

Twilight's eyes widened. "Oh, no, Mordecai, I couldn't...I mean, it seems so full now with both you and Rigby in it..."

"Twi, seriously..." He told her as he smiled. "I insist."

She blinked. "What about Benson?"

"Dude, Benson, like, appreciates you," he chuckled. "You're the only thing that makes him calm the heck down when we really cramp his style."

Twilight blushed a bit. "Well, I just want him to relax during an unfortunate situation..."

"And he'll be glad you're staying here," he concluded. "So, Twi..." He looked at her hopefully. "Will you stay? Pops would love that, too."

Twilight thought for a moment. She really hadn't thought about where she would spend a few days...and Mordecai was just so sweet to offer so much...and she truly liked Benson and the others, even Rigby.

She looked up at him with a smile. "I think that would be wonderful."

"Yes!" Mordecai cheered, his fist pumping into the air. "Things here will be awesome since you'll be part of it."

Twilight giggled softly, trying not to blush. Suddenly, her stomach growled. She placed her hooves over her belly in embarrassment.

"Did you eat anything today?" Mordecai asked.

"Well, I had a few daisies..." She confessed, remembering her recent moping around earlier had made her refuse to eat anything because of grief and sadness. "That was it..."

"Oh, no..." Mordecai shook his head, a serious yet worried expression on his face. "No way am I letting my friend starve to death!" He immediately stood up, taking Twilight's hoof so her fours were now on the ground. "I'm treating you to a smorgasbord right now!"

Twilight didn't say anything as Mordecai led her away. She was too hungry to refuse such a kind offer.

"Hey, thanks again for letting me do this right now," Red spoke into his communicator as he walked through Ponyville. "She's going to love these!"

In his hands was a small bouquet of flowers. Earlier at the shop, Red had been feeling a little guilty for staying at Lol's apartment while believing that maybe Twilight still didn't know what happened to him last night. He would feel worse if she had been worried to death because he and Purple were gone and hadn't told her anything. Though they had told Spike, perhaps the baby dragon had forgot?

He wanted to make it up to the pony whom had offered them a place to stay. She was such a wonderful and lovely friend and Red thought a show of gratitude was in order. Lol suggested giving Twilight some flowers. So she and Red made a quick stop at the flower shop and Red found a beautiful assortment of roses and violets. The violets seemed very special since they reminded Red of Twilight's violet skin as well as her lovely sparkling violet eyes.

He hoped one day she would become as lucky as him in the matters of love...

"Yeah, I'm coming by her house right now," Red said finally. "I'll come back to the shop as soon as I can...okay, love you, too." He said before hanging up.

Passing down the cobblestone bridge towards the house, Red caught sight of a familiar rainbow pegasus pony soaring through the air.

"Hey, Rainbow Dash," he called before waving at her.

When Rainbow Dash caught sight of him, she screeched to a halt, her eyes widening. But she said nothing as Red made his way over to the familiar library house.

Red put on a special smile before knocking on the door. "Twilight?" He called. "Hey, it's Red. Sorry if I got you worried last night..."

The door slowly opened, and instead of seeing the magical pony, he looked down and saw that it was Spike, whom held a surprised expression as soon as he saw Red.

"Oh..." The baby dragon said in a surprised tone. "Hey, Red..." He bit his lip nervously.

"Spike, good morning," Red greeted happily. "Where's Twilight? Look, I wanted to apologize to her if I ever got her worried for not coming home last night."

That isn't the only thing you should apologize for...Spike thought.

The dragon held a nervous smile. "Uh, Twilight's not here..." He said quietly.

Red raised an eyeridge. "Where is she?"

Spike shrugged nervously. "I, uh...I really don't know. She had to go out for a while and won't be back for some time..." He smiled apologetically.

Red's jaw fell slightly in surprise. "Oh, well, dang..." He sighed. "Hey, if she ever comes back, could you give her these?" He handed Spike the flowers. "Tell here how much I appreciate both you and her hospitality. Really, you guys are great."

Spike gazed at the flowers. "Uh, sure, I'll tell her that..."

As Red turned to leave, he noticed Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack standing across from him. They seemed nervous for some reason.

"Looking for Twilight, deary?" Rarity asked him, shifting her hooves nervously.

"Yeah, bummer she had to be somewhere..." Red sighed before smiling at them in greeting.

"Well, she had to leave!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "She wanted to stay away from-"

Rainbow Dash immediately placed a hoof over her mouth before smiling nervously at Red. She inched her face next to hers. "Don't say anything..." She whispered warningly. "It'll just make things worse..."

"Okeh dokeh!" Pinkie Pie muffled over her hoof.

Rainbow Dash finally released her before turning back to Red. "Yeah, Twilight's doing some super pony business right now..."

"Little Sparkle will be back, don't you worry, Tallest Red!" Applejack said cheerfully. "I hope..." She muttered under her breath.

"Oh, how is Lol?" Fluttershy couldn't help but ask. "And how are things in her little pet shop?"

Red smiled at the question. "Some new rabbits have been born."

"Oh, how wonderful!" Fluttershy's green eyes sparkled. "What a joy to have!"

"Yeah, Lol's just so amazing with the animals, you know?" Red smiled to himself. "Which reminds me, I got to get back to work!" He quickly passed the ponies. "Tell Twilight I said hi if you ever see her."

As soon as he left, the five gazed at each other, looking forlorn.

"That's not all you should have said, Red..." Applejack sighed.

"Really, it's so nice that you're treating me to some brunch."

Mordecai smiled at the pony as they entered the diner and took their seats at a nearby table. "Hey, anything for my buddy."

"Hey, Mordecai," greeted a red robin as she approached their table. She noticed Twilight next to him. "Oh, hey, Twilight. Haven't seen you in a while."

Twilight smiled at her. "Well, we're all busy in our lives, aren't we?" She chuckled.

Margaret chuckled. "Yeah, but I won't be too busy for my date tonight with my new boyfriend."

Twilight noticed Mordecai flinch when Margaret mentioned her new boyfriend. Every time Twilight came here, the red robin seemed to always have a new boyfriend.

"Uh, what happened to your last boyfriend?" The pony asked carefully.

"Didn't work out for me," Margaret replied. "He just didn't seem to be my type after two dates." She took out her notepad and pencil. "Anyway, what can I get for you?"

Twilight blinked at her, but decided to drop the curiosity before looking over at Mordecai, who became back to his calm self. A small breakfast may not fill her up completely, but she didn't want Mordecai to pay a lot just because she had been too stubborn to eat breakfast earlier.

"I'll have some coffee and the breakfast special," Mordecai said. He smiled at Twilight. "Give Twilight whatever she wants, it's on me."

Twilight's eyes widened in surprise. Then her stomach growled.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have some croissants with some double berry pancakes...

"And so, class..." Droned the seahorse teacher Mr. Baldwin as he stood beside the work he wrote on his chalkboard. "That is why you should never try and make gelatin out of the water you are in..."

Milo barely paid any attention at all as he doodled on his paper. Some lines...some squiggles...a few stars...

He made sure neither Oscar nor Bea saw what he was drawing as he kept the paper hidden under his hand. He was no artist, but he knew he was drawing a familiar pony, no doubt.

It really hurt that she had left Ponyville like that earlier. Milo came over to her house before school to see if she was alright. Sadly, she had been worse than he expected: sad, angry, and feeling not good enough.

Shifting his eyes in both directions, Milo dug into his pocket and took out a familiar red strand. It was the ribbon Twilight had tossed away earlier after going on about loving Red and losing him...As much as Milo envied the alien for capturing the beautiful pony's heart, seeing Twilight so heartbroken broke his heart even more.

He leaned back in his seat as he fiddled with the bow, just gazing at it while thinking back to when Twilight was actually happy, having ever been the obsessed fangirl over the color red...

"Milo?" Mr. Baldwin sighed as he caught sight of the beta fish playing with his ribbon. "Are you even paying attention?"

"Huh?" Milo snapped back to attention, eyes widening.

"Look, I know half the stuff I say is boring, but..." The teacher began as he swam to his desk. "What is that?" He gazed at the ribbon in his hands. "All objects that cause a distraction will be confiscated. You know that, Milo."

"No!" Milo cried, startling the entire class. He held the ribbon close. "I'm sorry! Please don't take away Twilight's ribbon!"

The class became silent as soon as Milo mentioned the pony's name. Mr. Baldwin raised an eyebrow as he looked at Milo.

"Twilight Sparkle's ribbon?" He asked. He rolled his eyes and swam back to the chalkboard. "Of course...the pony with the horn that you're obsessed with..."

"I'm not obsessed!" Milo exclaimed crazily.

"Uh, Finberley?" Bea began as she looked over to the petite redhead beside her. "You okay? You look like you're seething..."

"No, I'm not seething..." Finberley said with a sharp edge in her voice. "Why would I be seething? There's nothing to seethe about! Not even if the boy you like likes someone else." Her eye twitched.

"Dude, is Twilight still hurting?" Oscar whispered to him.

"I don't know," Milo muttered, holding the ribbon close to him. "I don't even know where she is right now..."

"I can't eat another bite."

Mordecai chuckled as he looked at the pony, empty dishes surrounding their table. Twilight had been very hungry from not eating much and she ordered as 'little' as she could for the sake of his paycheck. Though she had quite some hearty meals, Mordecai had offered to give her some of his toasts.

"You sure, Twi?" He asked, holding the piece of bread out to her. "Can't have you with no energy."

"I'm good, really," Twilight laughed, licking her lips. "That was a great brunch." She smiled at him. "I feel kind of guilty that you're paying for my appetite." She used her magic to summon her coin purse from her bag. "Here, we can split the bill..."

"No, no, no..." He insisted with a smile. "You're my guest, Twi. Your expenses are on me."

Twilight blushed a bit before putting away her coin purse.

"What? Mordecai's treating?"

Both turned to see Rigby enter the diner and flopped himself unto a seat next to Twilight. "Dude, her hunger must have cost you a fortune!" He eyed the empty dishes. Then he noticed the piece of toast in Mordecai's hand. "Can I have that?"

Before Mordecai could say anything, the raccoon grabbed the toast and began munching on it.

"So," he began with a mouthful of bread as he looked at Twilight. "Still hurting because some dude doesn't think you're it?"

Twilight flinched a bit at his statement. Then her lip began to quiver a bit. Mordecai placed a hand over his face in exasperation before glaring daggers at Rigby.

"Dude..." He warned through barred teeth. "Not cool..."

"Hey, it's not like it's never happened to you, Mordecai," Rigby reminded him. "What, with Margaret having a different boyfriend like everyday and you being all depressed because she doesn't notice you like her."

"Okay, we're done here," Mordecai cut in sharply before he slammed some money on the table and got out of his seat. "Come on, Twilight."

The pony slowly slid out of her seat and followed the bluejay before glancing back at Rigby. "Uh, bye, Rigby..."

"Yeah, later..." Rigby gave a nonchalant wave as he continued nibbling on his toast.

"Uh! That jerk!" Mordecai growled as soon as they exited the diner. He looked over to Twilight. "Twi, I am so sorry for that. Rigby's not usually smart half the time."

Twilight gave him an assuring smile. "It's okay, Mordecai," she said sincerely.

"And just for the record," Mordecai added softly as they walked down the street. He smiled nervously. Twilight thought she saw some pink on his cheeks. "You seem totally 'it'."

Twilight's eyes widened a bit, then she hid her blush in embarrassment. "Uh, thanks?" She giggled nervously. She averted her eyes for a bit before looking back at him. "And what he said about you and Margaret...really, if she only noticed what a swell guy you are...well..." She chuckled shifting a bit on her hooves. "And if nothing happens, I really hope you'll find someone much better."

Mordecai smiled down at her. "Thanks, Twi. I'm sure I will..."

Purple pushed the car down the halls, having completed the task of wiping vomit off the walls behind the school. He whistled a merry tune to himself when he came around a corner and spotted Winn with an oh-so-familiar face...

"God damn it, Alejandro!" Winn cried, losing her temper, not caring that she was swearing in front of the student.

"Ah, come on, you say worse..." The teen chuckled, pulling his shades down to give her a cool look as they sat in her office.

"This is ridiculous!" Winn cried as she slammed the file down on her desk. "Last moth you pulled the fire alarm! This month, you pulled down the school flag and placed it in the swim team's towel cart!"

"Hey, the fat kid could really use it," he smirked.

Winn growled. "Honestly, why the hell do you do these things? I mean, you're a top student yet you're the lowest of the low."

Alejandro just sat there in silence. "Because I want to."

"You're sent to my office like everyday, Alejandro!" Winn shouted. "And I know well that both of us don't like it!"

"And so?" He said coolly.

Winn stood up in frustration and stormed out of her office. Purple watched as she stomped down the halls, holding the familiar cigarette pack in her hands. He turned back toward her office where he saw Alejandro lean back in his seat while listening to his i-pod.

Purple glowered. Leaving his cart behind, he marched right into the office.

Then he ripped the earphones from the teen's ears.

"What the hell?" The teen demanded, glaring up at him.

"You!" Purple pointed a finger at him. "What is your problem?"

"You should talk!" The teen challenged. "Shouldn't you be scraping crap off the ceiling or something?"

"She is so brave to put up with you..." Purple growled. He shoved the teen back into his seat. "You listen here, punk. That amazing woman is doing her job to help these students, no matter how stupid they are, reach their goals. And you..." He pointed a finger at him. "You're going nowhere with that attitude."

"Please," Alejandro rolled his eyes. "Like you have it better, crap-scraper!"

"At least I didn't get drunk and puked on the principal!" Purple shot back.

Alejandro immediately silenced. He thought that moment was funny...

Purple's look softened a bit. "Look, though I've been here for a only a short while...I can guarantee you that Winn is an amazing woman..." He blushed a bit. "Er, counselor..." He glanced at the teen. "I just want to let know you that she's just trying to figure you out...see why you're such a bad kid you end up in her office all the time. Really, it has to be something wrong..."

Alejandro turned away. "Yeah...something..."

Purple stood up straight and headed out of the office. Before he left, he turned back to the teen. "And FYI, ruining a flag that symbolizes your head of education is truly disgraceful." And he left.

Alejandro just frowned and folded his arms in frustration. He looked over at the walls just to make time.

There were a few of frames hanging, most of them with a proud Winn.

Alejandro pondered.

Applejack hummed to herself as he hauled a cart full of apples through the streets of Miracle City. Rodolfo had ordered some apples and Applejack was doing her duty of delivering them while they were still fresh. Arriving had been no problem thanks to a little magic...

Despite the joy of making more money off her prized apples, Applejack couldn't help but still be saddened that Twilight was still gone. Poor Spike had the entire house to himself and it felt so empty without the magical pony.

Trotting up the steps of the familiar building, Applejack knocked on the door and waited.

The door opened and she was greeted by Rodolfo. "Ah, hola, Applejack! You brought the apples I ordered! Muy bien!"

"Shoot, I always do my job, Rodolfo!" Applejack said proudly as she pulled the cart into the room.

"Yes, you certainly do," the man smiled. "Here is a nice tip." And he placed a huge bag of gold coins atop her hat.

The pony's eyes sparkled. "Thank you kindly!"

"Is that Applejack?" Called a familiar voice.

Voltura came into the room with a pistol of some kind in her hand.

"I'm guessing it's an off-day for you two?" Applejack asked, seeing as the two weren't battling it out.

"Yes," Rodolfo said as he smiled over to Voltura. "Maria's working overtime while Grandpapi is out being a villain and the kids are on a field trip. Voltura and I are just spending time in my house. The apples are for baking for dinner."

"Shoot, no one can bake nicer apple empanadas than you, Voltura!" Applejack said.

"Oh, gracias, Applejack," Voltura said.

"Say, what's that there for?" The pony pointed at the pistol in her hands.

"Oh, this?" The woman said. "Well, Zim looked like he needed some help with his planet's technology. So Frink, Keswick, and I offered to help. It really doesn't seem too hard in my opinion."

"How is Twilight?" Rodolfo asked her. "She seemed to have left the party unannounced last night."

Applejack bit her lip. "Uh, she felt kind of sick and wanted to go to bed..." She lied. She hated to lie. Honesty ran through her veins and here she was lying to the kind people.

"Oh, dear," Voltura said. "Well, I hope she's okay."

"Oh, she'll be fine..." Applejack said with a nervous chuckle. "Wherever she is..." She muttered under her breath.

"Right, I'll take these into the kitchen," Voltura offered as she unhooked the belt from Applejack that helped her pull the cart. The woman pulled the cart across the room. "Excuse me, Rodolfo..."

Rodolfo stiffened a bit when Voltura placed a gentle hand on his chest and pushed him lightly out of the way as she hauled the cart through. He stood motionless as Voltura's hand left his chest and successfully pulled the cart into the kitchen.

He just stood there, frozen in space as he glanced at the room where she disappeared into.

"You know..." Applejack stated slyly, glancing at where Voltura just went. "It's not too late..."

Zim tried not to gag as he watched his classmates tried to eat the 'lunch' served today.

Gray glop...he didn't even want to know what it was made of.

Thank Irk his Earth mother packed him a hearty lunch, just as Keef's mother had, and same for Dib, who's lunch was packed now by Mrs. Pesky, bless that woman.

However, Gaz's lunch was something she bought from the burger place. She didn't care if her lunch was packed or not...just like she didn't care if Dib was home or not, considering he usually stayed at the Peskys.

"And the school board lets them serve this, why?" Zim couldn't help but ask aloud.

"It's suppose to be leftovers..." Dib cringed a bit as he watched their classmate Zita chew slowly at her gray glop. "At least I hope it is..."

"I bet Chowder would eat this anyway..." Gaz snapped, eating her fries.

"I've seen Beezy eat a cactus," Keef said. "He'd definitely eat this stuff."

"Please, admiring child," Zim scoffed. "Clearly Rochelle can consume such garbage. She's a brave human female...the only thing she can't handle eating is the slightly bland Earth substance known as broccoli." He smiled to himself, remembering their last mission. "Ah, yes...it didn't even seem that hard for her to chew right through those beef jerky strips..."

Dib raised an eyebrow. "I can't help but ask, Zim. But do you-"

"YOU'RE LYING!" Zim shouted, startling both him and Keef.

"Never mind," Dib rolled his eyes.

Twilight and Mordecai walked down the block of some nearby stores. Twilight gazed at the various items displayed in front of the windows. Twilight always loved shopping here in this town where Mordecai lived.

Of course, shopping here reminded her of the first time she and Mordecai met.

As if reading her mind, Mordecai looked down at her and smiled. "Hey, remember the first time we met?" He asked. "Remember when you saved both me and Rigby?"

Twilight blushed a bit. "Of course...though I must admit I felt kind of ashamed that there are some unicorns out there that are just cruel..."

"Yeah, the last time Rigby and I bumped heads with some unicorns, it was a highway to bad news..." Mordecai rubbed the back of his neck.

"You attracted them by some sort of scent..." Twilight began. "Was it a cologne?"

"Yeah..." Mordecai chuckled nervously. "I thought I'd attract girls...but it didn't work out the first time." He smiled as he looked at her. "However, the second time...I did get something better."

Twilight raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"A new friend," he said simply, gazing down at her.

Twilight suddenly beamed, touched by his words. She remembered the first time she came here to this town, she was just exploring her surroundings while shopping. Then she heard commotion going on nearby next to a perfume shop.

She had seen Mordecai and Rigby being pummeled to the ground by a group of gangly-looking, hideous unicorns in horrid black attire. Wanting to help them, Twilight stood up to the unicorns that were disgracing her being.

She was so small compared to the bulky, scary unicorns. But she had magic on her side, and she used it to throw them off their feet and making sure they would never harm Mordecai and Rigby again.

And that was the day she and Mordecai became friends.

"I'm still so grateful you saved our lives that day," Mordecai told her. "It was from that day on, I realized that not all unicorns are bad."

"Well, it did take some time for Rigby to trust me," Twilight chuckled.

"Yeah, well, he's an idiot," he rolled his eyes.

"And Benson..." Twilight began. "Didn't you mention that he had a grudge against unicorns for some reason? Yet when he first met me, he was so kind and nice."

"Yeah, well, maybe it's because you're pretty..." Mordecai's eyes widened a bit as his voice trailed off. "Er, pretty nice yourself!" He said quickly. "Yeah, plus he does like your can-do attitude."

"Oh, well..." Twilight chuckled. "I'm glad to have won him over."

She stopped in her tracks as she gazed at the window of a dress store. Displayed in front of the window was a beautiful dress.

It was red.

Twilight quickly looked away and walked passed the store immediately. Mordecai took a good look at the dress before following behind her. He glanced at the black ribbon in her hair.

"You know, that black color is nice in your hair," he said.

"Oh, please..." Twilight sighed. "I'm only wearing this black-colored ribbon because it fits my recent mood." She gazed down at the ground. "I've worn so much red lately...just for him..."

Mordecai gazed at her sadly. Then he placed a sympathetic arm around her. She looked up at him and smiled in thanks as they continued walking down the street.

Red held a few rabbits in his arms while Lol fed the entire group. Despite the cuteness tending to melt a glacier, Red still felt that pang of guilt deep in his squiddilyspooch.

Where was Twilight right now? How long would her so-called business last?

"I sure hope Twilight won't be gone forever," Red sighed before putting the rabbits back in the cage.

"She'll be fine, Red," Lol assured him. "Remember, she's an amazing pony with magic not even Harry Potter could conjure." She smiled up at him.

Red smiled down at her. "Yeah, you're right." He bent down and kissed her forehead. "Thanks."

Lol smiled sweetly. "And I'm sure she'll love the flowers you left for her at her house."

"Yeah, maybe she'll enjoy eating them as well," Red chuckled. "I tell you, even I think eating flowers is-"

"Hehehehehehehehe!"

Both turned and looked out the window to see a familiar fat man passing through the streets. His pants were down to the floor.

Thank God his incredible flab was covering that area...

Night had finally fallen over the town. Twilight's eyes sparkled as she looked up the stars.

"Sometimes I think watching the stars is better than watching TV," Mordecai said as they sat atop a hill and gazed at the sky. "Too bad there's no changing the channel..."

Twilight rolled her eyes and laughed. "Still, it sure is a nice night."

"Yeah," he said. He smiled at her. "Feeling better, hopefully?"

She smiled at him, touched for his concern. "I'm much better now," she told him. "Thanks to you."

"Dude, you're like the light of happiness," he told her. "Your last name's Sparkle. You deserve to be happy."

"Well, I'm happy to be here with my good friend Mordecai," she said sincerely.

He smiled at her. Then he looked back at the sky. "Oh, hey, look! That one's twinkling!" He pointed at a star. "It's sparkling!"

"Okay, no need to reference my last name," she chuckled.

"Well, your name is awesome," he reminded her.

Twilight couldn't control her blush as she looked down at the grass. "Not as awesome a name as Mordecai..."

"Tell me again why we're in Ponyville and not in bed right now," Oscar asked tiredly as he and Bea trudged behind a determined Milo.

"I just want to see if Twilight's home," the beta fish said. "I mean, she has to be home! If not, where would she be?"

"Uh, somewhere else?" Bea suggested, rubbing her tired eyes.

Finally nearing the library house, Milo marched up the steps and knocked on the door. He stroked his top fin to make his appearance look more appealing as he waited for the door to open.

"I notice you're wearing her ribbon," Bea said, seeing the strand of red placed behind his fin. "Now you're dressing like a girl to impress her?"

"Impress her?" Milo denied. "Nuh-uh! I'm just wearing this because it makes me feel pretty!"

The door opened and there stood Spike. He looked up at Milo in surprise.

"Twilight still asleep?" Milo asked.

"I don't know," the dragon shrugged. "She hasn't come home yet."

Milo's jaw fell. "What?" He passed Spike and came into the house.

No sign of Twilight. All he saw was Fluttershy with her animal friends cleaning around the place.

"Oh, good evening, Milo," the yellow pegasus greeted. "My animals and I thought it would be a good idea to have this place cleaned up up when Twilight returns."

"Wow, bro..." Oscar said as he and Bea and Spike came to the beta fish. "She's not here. Sorry..."

"Oh, man!" Milo cried. "I...uh...I need...I need a phone!"

Fluttershy's rabbit Angel came over to him with the phone. Milo took it and immediately began to dial.

"Who are you calling?" Bea asked.

"Anyone we know!" Milo exclaimed.

Twilight and Mordecai shared a smile as they walked toward the familiar house where he and Rigby always stayed. It was such a lovely place, and Twilight was glad to be sleeping in it with the care of Mordecai.

"Is Benson going to be okay that I'm here?" She asked. She had spent all day with Mordecai, she hadn't even told the others she was here.

"Yeah, of course," Mordecai assured her, patting her mane. "Remember, he likes you."

They walked into the house just in time as they saw Benson on the phone, looking very worried. Pops was with him as well, looking terrified.

"Milo...Milo, please! Please calm down, kid!" Benson said into the phone. "Now I understand how you're feeling right now." The gumball machine winced as shouting emerged from the phone. "But I can assure you, I will tell the others to look out for Twilight."

Twilight's eyes widened in shock. "What's going on?"

Pops caught sight of her and gasped. "Oh, Twilight, Milo became so worried when you didn't come back to Ponyville. So now he's called Benson demanding we search for you."

Benson placed a hand over mouth of phone and looked at them in annoyance. "Will you two keep it down? I am trying to calm Milo. Twilight Sparkle is missing!"

He turned back to the phone. After a few moments, his eyes widened and wheeled back toward the violet pony whom stood close to Mordecai.

Twilight laughed nervously before she gave a small wave. "Hi."

Benson looked at her in shock before looking back at the phone in his hand. "I'll get back to you, Milo." He hung up before looking at the pony in surprise. "Twilight, what are you doing here?"

"I needed some time away from home..." She said quietly averting her eyes.

"Found her at the park earlier," Mordecai stepped in. "I offered her stay here for as long as she wanted."

"Oh, goody!" Pops clapped his hands happily. "How wonderful to have her here!" He smiled at Twilight. "Really, it's been a while, Ms. Sparkle. It is truly joyous to have you with us."

Twilight smiled gratefully before turning to Benson. "I hope I'm not causing you trouble..." She said softly, remembering the phone call Benson had received.

Benson gave a cheerful laugh. "Oh, none at all, Twilight," he assured her. "Really, welcome and make yourself right at home. There's a room upstairs just for you."

"Oh, thank you," she bowed thankfully. "But Mordecai offered to let me share his room instead."

"Share?" Benson repeated. He looked to the bluejay, his eyes squinting. "Does Rigby know she's sharing a room with the both of you?"

Mordecai looked uneasy. "Uh, yeah, like I'd want to tell him just to hear him say no..." He rolled his eyes.

"Fine..." Benson sighed. He resumed his smile as he looked to Twilight. "I'll have spare blankets sent up to you. Really, you can stay here as long as you want."

"Oh, thank you so much, Benson," Twilight told him gratefully. "And I'd sure like to help around with any work. You know, to get my mind off troubles and all..." She smiled as she looked to Mordecai. "It would be great to work alongside Mordecai."

Hopefully, she'll motivate him to not slack off as much...Benson thought bitterly.

"Benson!" Milo shouted into the phone.

"Bro, hang up already!" Oscar groaned. "It's been ten minutes!"

"We, like, know a lot of people," Bea began, "and you call the guy who has gumballs for brains?"

"Twilight sometimes helps out at their park," Spike reminded her. "Benson really favors her, you know." He looked over to Milo. "It's not a crush, he just admires her." He looked down uneasily. "At least, I hope that's it..."

"Can we please go back to bed?" Oscar droned. "Dude, we have a quiz tomorrow!"

"Milo, did you study?" Bea asked the beta fish.

"Beats me," Miloe shrugged, stroking the ribbon on his fin. "I'll just get the usual C...then I'm going to call that Benson dude again and demand that Twilight be found!"

"Oh, dear..." Fluttershy observed as she dusted the bookshelves. "Oh, Twilight, please be okay..."

Red looked out the window of Lol's bedroom as he laid on the bed while Lol was in the bathroom. He was so worried for Twilight right now. Sure, she was a strong-minded girl whose magic could defend her, but still...where could she be right now? He had called Spike earlier, asking if she had come home, but Spike said she was still gone and doing 'business'.

"That order of cat chow should come in tomorrow," Lol said as she came out of the bathroom. She saw the look of worry on her boyfriend's face. "Red? Are you okay?"

Red snapped to attention before looking at her. "You think Twilight is alright? I know I shouldn't worry, but still, she left and hadn't even called to say where she would be staying."

Lol looked worried as well, but she held an assuring smile as she joined him in bed. "I may have only known Twilight for a short time, but she truly is a strong girl pony. Whatever pony business she had to do, I'm sure it had to be something big it would take most of her time."

"Yeah, you're right," Red said with a small smile as he leaned back and laid his head against the pillow. He reached his arms out and held Lol close to him. "Love you, Lol."

The brunette smiled before nuzzling close to him. "Love you, too."

Mordecai tried to ignore the scowl on the raccoon's face as he prepared his bed for Twilight while the pony was using the bathroom. He sighed in annoyance before finally looking at Rigby.

"Will you please stop looking at me like that?" The bluejay exclaimed.

"I can't believe you offered the princess pony to sleep in our room!" Rigby huffed, laying in his bed, which was just a tiny trampoline.

"Dude, don't be so harsh!" Mordecai warned him. "Twilight's going through a tough time and what kind of friends would we be if we didn't offer help? And by 'we' I mean you."

"Hope she's not one of those snoring chicks," Rigby scoffed as he turned in his bed.

Mordecai rolled his eyes before coming over and opening the door. There stood Pops with something in his hands.

"Oh, hello, Mordecai," the cheerful lollipop of a man greeted. "I seem to have found an old box of things that I don't think I'd want anymore." He offered it to Mordecai. "Just some old material meant for happy fashion and all."

"Uh, thanks, Pops," Mordecai said before taking the box.

"Tell Twilight I said goodnight," the man said before going back to his room.

"Great, seems like everyone goes gaga when Twilight's here..." Rigby snorted.

"You know she's a great friend," Mordecai said defensively as he placed the box on the bed and opened it.

Nothing but needles, some string, some pieces of clothing...

Mordecai's eyes widened a bit when he found something else. Then he smiled.

"Wow, I sure am tired," Twilight said as she came into the room. She looked over to Mordecai and saw the box. "Hey, what's that?"

Mordecai turned to her, his smile even bigger. "Something totally sweet."

Twilight blinked in confusion. "Really? What is it?"

"Wait, wait..." The bluejay began. "Close your eyes."

Twilight raised an eyebrow.

"Come on, Sparkle," he said playfully. "Just close your eyes."

She shrugged before she did so.

"Dude, you are being such a girl," she heard Rigby say. Then she heard a loud smack. "Ow!"

Then Twilight felt the back of her hair being touched and tugged a bit. She felt hands brush through her hair before she felt them do something else.

"Okay," Mordecai said. "You can open your eyes now!"

Twilight opened her eyes, then looked to Mordecai in confusion. The bluejay just looked at her happily before taking out a small mirror and showing it to her. Twilight looked at herself for a few moments. Then she gasped.

Her mane had been tied back into a bun...in her hair was a blue ribbon.

"Mordecai..." She said in surprise before looking at the bluejay. "I..."

"You said black wasn't your color," he told her, holding the black ribbon he had removed from her hair. "I thought it would be best that your wore a special kind of color I think is way better than red."

Twilight felt the ribbon behind her head. "Blue?" Then she looked at him slyly. "Did you choose blue because it's your color?" She regarded his blue feathers.

"No," he said playfully. "I chose it because it's your favorite color."

Twilight's eyes widened in surprise. He remembered her favorite color! As an enthusiast of the stars, Twilight loved the color of blue because it always reminded her of the night sky she would always look at after reading a good book before going to bed. Honestly, she liked different kinds of blue: ocean blue, sky blue, midnight blue...

She never told Red that blue was her favorite color...

But why was she thinking about Red at this moment? Her violet eyes sparkled as she smiled happily at the bluejay. Just last night she was a heartbroken wreck who pushed the people she loved away...now here she was, with a good friend who had went all out to make sure she felt better.

She felt more than better as she continued gazing at her friend. She couldn't control her blush...nor could she control herself as she galloped over and nuzzled her head against his chest.

Mordecai smiled to himself before patting her mane, happy that she was happy. Honestly, he thought blue suited her best...and maybe a little bit because he was blue himself.

"Okay..." Rigby groaned, watching them embrace. "Can the kiddy love end now? I want to sleep, dang it!"
Part 2 of chapter 14 of my Invader Zim cartoon crossover story.

Special thanks once again to my good friend :iconbbb35: for providing helpful dialogue for part 2. :)

So yes, the RS cast are part of my universe. And now you guys have learned how exactly they became part of that universe...or how they learned to trust unicorns like Twilight now. :)

So looks like Twilight will be staying with Mordecai for now...while Milo's tearing his fin out wondering where the heck she is and Red worrying where she had gone. :(

Twilight favors Mordecai among the other Rs characters because he's down-to-Earth, calm yet serious, a bit more mature(even more than Rigby) and he was the first to say thanks after she saved both him and Rigby. Rigby was being all paranoid even after she just saved him. ^^;

Benson truly favors her and Twilight truly respects Mordecai...and she constantly feels bad for him because, like her, the person he likes is always taken. If only Margaret could see what Twilight notices in Mordecai...

And the bluejay even knows her favorite color! Looks like red and black are out! :giggle:

Stay tuned for chapter 15! ;)

"Mordecai and his friends here had no idea what had been going on the last few weeks...they don't know about the aliens among them..."

Well, aliens are pretty "normal" for Mordecai and his friends, or to the world he's from for that matter. I mean one of his friends - Skips - is friends with aliens (Gary, the Guardians of Eternal Youth). But I suppose Twilight hasn't realized that yet at this point.
