A Song of FUN

And by fun, I mean the band Fun who sang popular songs like 'We Are Young' as well as 'Some Nights'. Not the 'F is for friends who do stuff together, yada, yada..."

This is actually my second tribute to the Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph. You might have already seen my first one, a major cartoon crossover of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Regular Show, Fairly Oddparents, and Fish Hooks [link]

Well, this was inspired by trailer I recently saw for the movie, and in it, the song 'Some Nights' was playing and I immediately fell in love with the lyrics [link]

The song makes the movie that much more powerful in my opinion, with a great message as well as an outstanding adventure, which makes me even more excited for the movie to arrive in November.

And the fact that the song was sung by a band called FUN...I immediately thought of Spongebob Squarepants.

No major crossover this time...no MLP FIM or even some Regular Show. I just wanted to draw something featuring a show that became a very important part of me when I was a little kid. To me, Spongebob and his friends light up my world.

I know some people really hate the recent episode of that show, and I can somewhat agree that the older ones were much better as well as had some given morals. The episode 'Band Geeks' is my ultimate favorite episode. I mean, not only was it Squidward's MASSIVE moment of shine, Spongebob sang!

And I always wondered what it would be like if he sang 'Some Nights'...and Plankton, being all mellow instead of trying to steal the secret Krabby Patty formula for once, just listens.

Like he said, I am DEFINITELY watching the movie.

And that Wreck-It Ralph trailer...the movie isn't out yet and the trailer already had me in tears , especially in the scenes between Ralph and Vanellope.

Also, I realized that today is Spirit Day, and trust me, I had been a victim of bullying during my first year in high school, as well as a few times during elementary and middle school. But I had good people behind me, and who helped me take care of those bullies, and I felt great, stronger even.

So I managed to re-color the surfboard into a deep purple color, which is one of my favorite colors besides green.

In my opinion, Spongebob, as well as many cartoon characters, is a good role model in the situations that involve bullying. Most of you would disagree, but hey, I just have this feeling about him.

And the song 'Some Nights'...it feels like it can relate to Spirit Day well, huh? It's just so poignant and moving, you can just cheer and cry at the same time. My best friend, who is gay, loves the song, and he wore purple pants for this special day, even dyed his hair with purple highlights. He's a great friend and a great person as well.

Again, happy Spirit Day, and still excited for Wreck-It Ralph.
